The Importance of Theology

Joshua Harris is not an author that I have not read anything from. However, everything that I have heard about his writings is excellent. He is the author of I Kissed Dating Goodbye, Stop Dating the Church!: Fall in Love with the Family of God , Boy Meets Girl: Say Hello to Courtship, and Sex Is Not the Problem (Lust Is): Sexual Purity in a Lust-Saturated World. This past January he came out with a new book, Dug Down Deep: Unearthing What I Believe and Why It Matters. Below is a trailer for the book, telling us why theology is so important:

The Gospel Survey

I am working on a writing project and would appreciate as much input from the survey below as possible.

The Gospel Survey

Book Recommendation - "Scandalous" by D. A. Carson

Last year about this time, there was a small event at Mars Hill Church - in Seattle, Washington – featuring the teaching and preaching of one of my modern day heroes – Dr. D. A. Carson. This event was called “ A Day with Dr. Don.” The teaching of this two day event focused around, no surprise here, the cross. The content of that event has now been turned into a book, published by re:lit, called “ Scandalous: The Cross and Resurrection of Jesus”.

Matt Chandler Unpacking the Gospel from Colossians 1:13-23

Wow, it has been six months since I posted last here on my blog. Here are some of the reasons for it: 1) part of that time I was taking classes at Hannibal-LaGrange College to try and finish my Bachelor of Arts in Biblical Studies; 2) I have been lacking in gainful employment for 14 months now, so I just don't have much to write about; and 3) I have been in a spiritual slump, the depths of which only God knows. However, by God's grace, I am starting to come back to myself (sort of).

As my first post back, I wanted to share a video that I watched yesterday. As the title of this blog post indicates, it is Pastor Matt Chandler, of the Village (in Dallas, TX), preaching the gospel from Colossians 1:13-23. I really appreciated it because he showed the Gospel from two perspectives, what he calls the Gospel on the ground and the Gospel in the sky, but I'll let him explain that:
